Thefts of Parcels on Doorsteps -

Dear Resident

Preventing stolen doorstep deliveries

There have been recent reports of parcels being taken from nearby doorsteps shortly after being left by delivery companies. Although, nobody wants to miss a delivery, unattended parcels are vulnerable to theft.

Here are some steps to help keep your parcels secure:

Instruct parcel companies not to leave parcels when you’re not at home.

Opt for a parcel to be delivered to a ‘safe place’ where it is out of sight/locked away.

Consider opting for delivery to a parcel locker - some companies have lockers in nearby places allowing you to collect when you’re available.

Arrange for your parcel to be delivered to a trusted neighbour, or other family members who will be at home; if you live in a flat, is there someone who could accept the parcel for you?

Consider CCTV and CCTV warning stickers covering your doorstep and property.

 Consider installing a security light.

Install a video doorbell; this can be connected to your mobile, so you are notified immediately of any delivery, and is easier to install than a full CCTV system.

If you have any concerns, then call Warwickshire Police on 101. Do not report directly to your local Safer Neighbourhood Team.

If someone is seriously injured, in immediate danger, or if there is a threat to public safety, call 999.

Alternatively call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111.
